GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Pyrle in downtown Greensboro hosted a candidate forum on Tuesday night for candidates running for local N.C. Senate and House seats, Guilford Board of Commissioners and Guilford Board of Education.
Guilford County Board of Commissioners and Board of Education candidates answered questions during the forum at The Pyrle on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, as citizens listened and mingled with candidates before the program.
Local N.C. Senate and House of Representatives candidates also took questions. Among those who appeared were N.C. House District 62 candidates John M. Blust and Shelly Headen, N.C. House District 59 candidates Elma Hairston and Alan Branson, N.C. House District 60 candidate Amanda Cook, and N.C. Senate District 26 candidates Steve Luking and Sam Page.
Guilford County Board of Commissioners At-Large candidates Greg Drumwright and Mike Perdue and District 3 candidate Derek Mobley also answered questions at The Pyrle.
The Guilford County Schools Board of Education carries the largest local public budget and policy influence among major employers tracked for the market, so school-board races on the same ballot draw close attention from parents and taxpayers ahead of early voting.
Guilford County Schools Superintendent Dr. Whitney Oakley oversees the district whose board seats were on the Pyrle stage. Voters weighing education and county government choices can review sample ballots and candidate lists as early voting approaches for the November general election.
