GREENSBORO, N.C. — The UNC Greensboro women’s golf team closed its fall season with a home victory Tuesday, winning the UNCG Collegiate at Forest Oaks Country Club by seven strokes, while freshman Baker Hudson claimed the individual crown.
The Spartans posted team rounds of 296, 289 and 281 for a three-day total of 866, two over par. Their closing 281, seven under par, was the lowest team round of the event, and UNCG also had the best score in the first round. Augusta finished second at 9 over par, followed by Campbell at 24 over and Winthrop at 36 over. Catawba, Lenoir-Rhyne, Marshall and Queens rounded out the eight-team field.
Hudson shot 73, then 66 and 67, to finish at 10-under 206 and win by two shots. It was the second college tournament title of her young career, and her second and third rounds were the best single rounds anyone posted all week. She also led the field with 14 birdies.
Augusta senior Sara Adams was the runner-up, closing with a 3-under 69 to finish 8 under for the event. Her teammate Puntita Pawichai also broke par on the final day with a 70 and earned a top-10 finish.
UNCG placed three players in the top six. Kasey McIlvaine shot 75, 71 and 71 and finished fifth among 48 golfers. Elle Burnette jumped 11 places on the last day with a 4-under 68 and tied for sixth at 2 over par. Wilma Siwers tied for 27th and Eva Brown placed 43rd.
The win wraps up the fall schedule for the Spartans. They are next scheduled to play in February 2027, when they host the Treasure Coast Invitational at Glynlea Country Club in Florida from Feb. 7 to 9.
