CHICAGO, Ill. — Caleb Williams outdueled Drake Maye on Thursday night, throwing for 308 yards and two touchdowns as the Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots 30-24 at Soldier Field.

Williams hit on 22 of 33 throws, his second start since returning from a hamstring injury, and Chicago improved to 5-2 with its fourth win in five games. New England slipped to 4-3, ending a three-game winning streak.

Rookie receiver Luther Burden III did all of his damage before halftime, totaling 130 yards and a score on four catches. His 24-yard catch-and-run on a screen put the Bears up 20-7 with 14 seconds left before halftime, but the Patriots answered on the final snap of the half with a 48-yard touchdown pass to Rhamondre Stevenson.

Chicago restored a two-score cushion by marching 72 yards in nine plays for a touchdown to open the third quarter. D’Andre Swift ran for 78 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, and linebacker D’Marco Jackson picked off Maye in the end zone in the second quarter.

Kicker Cairo Santos clanged a 53-yard try off the right upright with under eight minutes left, then made up for it with a career-long 58-yarder that made it 30-21 at the 1:34 mark.

Maye threw for 321 yards on 24-of-31 passing with two scoring tosses and an interception, and he also ran for a 7-yard score. Stevenson had five catches for 93 yards. The crowd at Soldier Field was announced at 60,520.
