GREENSBORO, N.C. — UNC Greensboro needed some late answers in two tight sets, but the Spartans beat Chattanooga in straight sets Saturday at Bodford Arena in Greensboro, winning by scores of 27-25, 25-14 and 25-23, to stretch their Southern Conference winning streak to six matches.

UNCG is now 15-7 on the season and 8-3 against SoCon opponents, one game back of first-place Wofford. It also gave the Spartans a season sweep of the Mocs for the second year running. Chattanooga fell to 6-17 and 1-10 in the conference, tied with The Citadel for ninth place. For the visitors, sophomore Jordin Glass had eight kills to go with eight blocks, tying her career best at the net.

The opening set nearly got away. UNCG led 20-12 before the Mocs stormed back and earned a set point at 25-24, helped by a string of Spartan attack errors. Allie Sweet tied it with a kill, and UNCG closed with two more points, the last on another Sweet kill, to take it 27-25.

The second set turned on an 11-point UNCG run from a 12-12 tie, with Kendall Lanclos putting down three kills in a row during the burst. In the third, Chattanooga built a 22-17 lead before the Spartans scored five straight. The Mocs went back in front 23-22, but Sweet answered with the tying kill and two Chattanooga errors ended the match.

Sweet finished with 14 kills and four aces. Hailey Clifton added 12 kills, and Izora Gragg handed out 35 assists. UNCG out-killed the Mocs 50-29 and held a 45-28 edge in digs, even as Chattanooga piled up a season-high 14 blocks.

The Spartans finish a three-match homestand against ETSU on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at Bodford Arena.
