GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro City Council will gather at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, inside the Katie Dorsett Council Chamber at city hall for a closed-door block before the public portion of the night.
Leaders shifted the start earlier so members can talk privately about evaluating a council employee and about where industries or other businesses might locate or grow inside the city service area, topics state law allows behind closed doors.
After that private stretch ends, the board plans to reopen the doors and resume regular business. Speakers who want a turn at the mic must file an online request by 5 p.m. the day before, or sign in on arrival at the courier desk using the Qminder kiosk.
The Melvin Municipal Office Building, also known as Greensboro City Hall, anchors local government at 300 West Washington Street. Meeting video runs on the city website, the city YouTube channel and Greensboro Television Network, with cable simulcasts on several local channels.
Agendas, minutes and archived video land on the city meetings page after each session. The October date keeps the usual Tuesday rhythm while giving staff and residents a clearer clock for the closed-session start.
Mayor Marikay Abuzuaiter and the rest of the board are expected to handle routine ordinances once the private items wrap. Residents can follow along online if they cannot reach downtown Greensboro that evening.
City clerks reminded the public that the 5 p.m. start applies only to this Oct. 20 agenda and that later meetings may return to the usual evening hour unless another notice posts.
